my story

My interest in creating visually began before I remember, and I started painting landscapes a la Bob Ross (I am, after all, a child of the 90's) . My interest was further piqued by early dada and surrealist movements by my early teens, where, in high school, I had the opportunity to experiment with landscape and portraiture in the styles of the artists I most admired.

In 2010, filled with grief over my mom's death and turning to art to work through my pain, as often I have, I became determined to execute a series of a portraits based on my favourite photos of my mom throughout her life. But I stopped after one attempt; I just couldn't capture her. My grief was too fresh.

Knowing I still needed to create but feeling a need to move away from portraiture all together, I began painting in abstract monochromatic colour palettes, just to keep creating. Through this I found a process that is very therapeutic for me, and one which aims to create surreal but calming pieces that play with light and change throughout the day. I use a mix of acrylic mediums, resin, crystals, and found objects, like wood and stone.
