About the event
Performing Poetry is a five hour workshop curated to inspire and embolden you in your performance of both your own poetry and public speaking in general.
The day begins with introductions and a brief lecture, and a few writing exercises to get everyone warmed up. This is followed by physical and vocal warm ups, group work, and other exercises to establish and practice the mind body connection. The workshop is curated to encourage participants to develop a personal practice for preparing your performances - whether you are performing at open mics, featuring as part of a larger production, or filming your poetry for online distribution on social media.
