Or maybe you feel really comfortable in front of an audience performing your poetry, but want to dig deeper, and explore ways of adding texture and characterization to the way you perform your writing...

With exercises, physical and vocal warm ups and tools, short lecture components, and teamwork, this weekend intensive will this workshop is designed to inspire poets to revisit their work with fresh eyes. Get inspired, activated, and learn to make creative performance choices as a performing poet!

Wherever you are in your journey as a performing poet, this workshop is designed to meet you there and offer you tools, exercises, and practices to expand your approach to performing poetry.

New Poet Auditions

CALLING INTERESTED PERFORMING POETS!

Are you interested in joining our community and performing in some of our upcoming immersive literary cabarets?

PBTo (the Poetry Brothel Toronto) is an immersive literary cabaret: each cabaret boasts a unique theme, and we curate our lineup of performers to each theme specifically. Poets perform in costume, in a character of your own creation/choosing, and audience members can purchase private readings with you between acts/after the show. You keep 100% of the value of the private readings, and we do not take a cut or commission.

We are looking to expand our roster of performing poets. Our roster is a collective of performing poets, who are included in our show lineups and offered opportunities for further training and community. Our current roster includes 8 dedicated poets, and we are excited to invite 4-6 new poets to join our team.

To apply: please click this link and answer a brief questionnaire. Applicants will receive an audition time slow and location via email. Want more information? Check out our event page here.

The Poetry Brothel Toronto is a series of shows which support local artists in a variety of ways. Our producer works diligently to curate shows in our immersive cabarets that create a sense of community and intimacy, that bothy entertain our audiences and get our performers - poets, musicians, dancers, and more - paid. Our Poet Roster is built of poets who audition to join our collective and work hard at evolving their writing and their performance skills. Our community events like our poetry club and our open mic nights range from free to attend to minimally priced, because accessibility to continued education is important to us.

But we need your help! Beyond supporting PBTO by coming to our shows and following us on socials, your donations make a world of difference in our continued ability to produce both our shows and our workshops, clubs, and other gatherings.
